about

This song was inspired by the Tao Te Ching concept of "wei wu wei" which translates as "doing by not doing".

lyrics

I hear composer's songs
but my own song is silence
the mute swan sings by flying its wings.

I work through the night
but my own work is stillness
the boatman rows but the river moves the boat.

I've thanked others for their heartfelt kindness
but I never thank my self
for patiently waiting...

Waiting is listening to my beating heart
to act without doing seems awkward and odd
"I'm supposed to, because, the work's never done."
But true work is a heartbeat unbridled by love.

Waiting is lonely and its hard to be alone
My thoughts communing with prospects of home
with my self, my fear, my joy, my tears,
my regret, my dream, my debt ... to whom?
